The Embassy of the United States in Yaoundé is the diplomatic mission of the United States in Cameroon.[1] Mary E. Daschbach is current Chargé d’Affaires.[2][3] Joe Biden has nominated Christopher Lamora as the next Ambassador of the United States to Cameroon.[4]

History

The United States recognized the Republic of Cameroon on January 1, 1960, when U.S. Consul General at Yaoundé Bolard More notified Cameroon authorities that the U.S. post was being elevated to an Embassy status. This coincided with the end of the United Nations Trusteeship over Cameroon, previously administered by France.[5] Diplomatic relations were established on the same day with Bolard More serving as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim.[5]
