The embassy of the United States in Maseru is the diplomatic mission of the United States of America in Lesotho.

History

On October 4, 1966, the U.S. Department of State established the Embassy of the United States in Maseru upon Lesotho's independence from the United Kingdom.[1] The first diplomat to oversee the operations of the embassy was Richard St. F. Post, serving as Chargé d'Affaires ad interim.[1] Until 1979, one ambassador residing in Gaborone, Botswana was accredited to Lesotho, Swaziland, and Botswana.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, U.S. embassy officials donated 12,000 face masks, 11,000 face shields and 256 thermometers to the Kingdom of Lesotho.[2]
