Incursion

19 October

Israeli forces began invading the city at three o'clock in the morning on Thursday, 19 October 2023, and operations were particularly concentrated in the city's Nour Shams camp, in addition to the city's neighborhoods and the city's Tulkarm camp.[6]

At the beginning of the invasion, Israel used a group of military bulldozers to bulldoze the streets inside and around Nour Shams camp and destroyed the infrastructure. It also arrested a group of Palestinians and took control of a group of Palestinian homes in the city's neighborhoods.

About 12 hours after the start of the invasion, Israel used military helicopters loaded with missiles as air cover in the sky of the city for the first time since the second Palestinian intifada. Israel also bombed a group of Palestinians in the Nour Shams camp with a suicide plane, killing them.[7]

The Al-Quds Brigades group in the Tulkarm Battalion said that its members fired bullets at Israeli infantry forces and snipers inside the Tulkarm camp, and that they achieved casualties.[8]

The Israeli army announced that one of its officers was killed and 9 of its soldiers were injured as a result of the explosion of a Palestinian explosive device in the Nour Shams camp. The injured soldiers were transferred to the Israeli Meir Hospital.[9]

20 October

Explosions continued in the city at dawn and in the morning of the second day of the invasion, Friday, 20 October 2023, and the Tulkarm Battalion announced that a number of other Palestinian armed battalions and groups had been able to reach Tulkarm and support the Tulkarm Battalion in its fighting.[10]

At seven o'clock in the morning, Palestine time, on 20 October 2023, Israeli forces withdrew from the city and its two camps after an invasion that lasted for 30 continuous hours, leaving major destruction to the infrastructure, roads, and buildings, and destruction to the electricity, water, and Internet networks.[1]

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the number of Palestinians killed reached 13, including 5 children, “during the massacre committed by the occupation army.” The dead and injured were transferred to Thabet Governmental Hospital in the city.[11][12]
