Tankaman-e Jonubi Rural District (Persian: دهستان تنکمان جنوبی), formerly Tankaman Rural District (دهستان تنکمان), is in Tankaman District of Nazarabad County, Alborz province, Iran.[3]

At the 2006 census, its population was 16,310 in 4,135 households, when Nazarabad County was in Tehran province.[4]

In August 2010, Karaj County, Nazarabad County, and Savojbolagh County were separated from the province in the establishment of Alborz province.[5]

At the most recent census of 2016, the rural district had a population of 3,279 people in 1,039 households, by which time it had been renamed at the same time Tankaman-e Shomali Rural District was established.[3] The largest of its 22 villages was Mohammadabad, with 781 people.[2]
