With over 40 national elections being held throughout the year, 2024 is expected to be an unusually busy election year with seven of the top ten most populous countries holding elections throughout this year.[1][2] Artificial intelligence is expected to influence and sway voters ahead of elections, increasing risks of political disinformation and democratic backsliding across the world.[3][4]
