The 2023 Liberty Bowl is a college football bowl game that is scheduled to be played on December 29, 2023, at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium located in Memphis, Tennessee. The 65th annual Liberty Bowl game generally features teams from the Big 12 Conference and the Southeastern Conference, however this year's matchup is expected to feature a Big 12 team versus an American team as the SEC does not have enough bowl-eligible teams. The game is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. CST and will air on ESPN.[1][2] The Liberty Bowl will be one of the 2023–24 bowl games that will be concluding the 2023 FBS football season. The bowl game will be sponsored by automotive retailer AutoZone, and the game will officially known as the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.

Teams

Based on conference tie-ins, the game normally features teams from the Big 12 Conference and the Southeastern Conference. Still, because the SEC does not have enough bowl-eligible teams this year, a team from the American Athletic Conference will take the SEC's spot.
