The 2023 Camellia Bowl is a college football bowl game that is scheduled to be played on December 23, 2023, at the Cramton Bowl located in Montgomery, Alabama. The tenth annual Camellia Bowl game will feature teams from the Mid-American Conference and the Sun Belt Conference. The game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. CST and will air on ESPN.[2][3] The Camellia Bowl will be one of the 2023–24 bowl games concluding the 2023 FBS football season.
Teams
Consistent with conference tie-ins, the bowl features teams from the Mid-American Conference (MAC) and the Sun Belt Conference. This is the second meeting between Northern Illinois of the MAC and Arkansas State of the Sun Belt.[4]
Arkansas State Red Wolves
Arkansas State finished their regular season with a 6–6 record, 4–4 in conference play. They started their season with two straight losses, being outscored 110–3 by Oklahoma and Memphis. [5] They became bowl eligible with a 77–31 rout against Texas State in their final regular-season contest at home. This is Arkansas State’s eleventh bowl appearance in program history. They previously played in, and won, the 2019 edition of the Camellia Bowl.
