The 2023 season is the Houston Texans' 22nd season in the National Football League (NFL) and the first under head coach DeMeco Ryans. They improved on their 3–13–1 record from last year with a Week 9 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and are attempting to make the playoffs for the first time since 2019 as well as end their three-year AFC South title drought.

Offseason

The Texans fired Lovie Smith after just one rebuilding season as the head coach with a record of 3–13–1. On January 31, 2023, the Texans hired former player DeMeco Ryans as their new head coach;[1] Ryans spent the previous two seasons as the 49ers defensive coordinator.
