From Proto-Indo-European *pṓds.
Usage notes
With original root *pata-, was written with syllabograms and with Sumerogram 𒄊 (GÌR), and also with determiners 𒍜 (UZU) and 𒄑 (GIŠ). Therefore nominative singular was most likely *patas.
