Venice Park is a neighborhood located in Atlantic City, New Jersey, situated west of Absecon Island and south of Riverside Island, and west of the Atlantic City wetlands.

The neighborhood is known for its seclusion from Atlantic City, though it is easily accessible and walking distance to the mainland of Atlantic City. The New Jersey Transit route 505 connects the neighborhood to the mainland as well. There are two parks and two churches on the islands and an apartment complex as well.

Demographics

According to the 2020 US Census Bureau, there were 1,899 residents on the two islands that make up the neighborhood of Venice Park. The neighborhood is 77.5% Black, making it one of several majority-Black neighborhoods in Atlantic City. Hispanics make up another 15% of the islands' population, and 8.9% of the islands' population is White. Other groups including Asians make up 5.2% of the population.[1]

Education

Kids on the islands between the ages of 3 and 4 go to the Venice Park School, a school in the Atlantic City School District for pre-Kindergarteners. Kids that are between 5 and 14 attend the Dr. Martin Luther King School Complex on the mainland Atlantic City. Both are within walking distance of the neighborhood, although transportation is provided by the Atlantic City Board of Education. Kids between 15 and 18 attend the Atlantic City High School. Choice programs are offered as well.[2][3]
