Plot

Randolph Bradley is an employee at a small restaurant in rural Louisana and is soon to be a manager, yet is still picked on by other employees. After co-worker Benson sees Randolph being bullied, he finally snaps and shoots all the workers in the building. Benson then makes Randolph clean the bloody walls and floors and the bodies are put in the freezer.

Benson then makes Randolph follow him to a nearby restaurant where Benson reveals that his killings were because of Randolph embarrassing himself, yet continuing and not complaining about the other workers. Afterward, Benson takes Randolph to Benson's mother's house to give her food and cigarettes, and when his mom asks him to give her the phone and Randolph accepts, Benson acts hostile and hurts Benson. They go back to the car, and Benson says that he has to hurt Randolph to make him learn, and he sets up a rule that he does only what is necessary for Randolph.

Afterward, the duo head to the town mall to talk to Randolph's ex-girlfriend, Jess, after they suddenly broke up. After reconciling with Jess, Randolph says that he had been held back in second grade due to an incident with his teacher, Mrs. Beard, in which he flung a pencil into her eye after being angry accidentally, and it ruined both of their lives by Mrs. Beard being bullied by everyone in her life, and Benson to isolate all of his feeling after the incident.

The duo go to the elementary school where Mrs. Beard worked, to get her home address, whilst Benson secretly plans to kill Mrs. Beard. When they go outside, Benson spots the principal, and mysteriously, likely due to his past trauma, viciously beats and nearly kills the principal, but Randolph stops him because of the necessity rule for Randolph.

Once they get to Mrs. Beard's house,
