Biography
Tarik el idrissi was born in Al Hoceima, Morocco in 1978. in 1998, his artistic pursuits take him to Spain, where he decides to undertake an audiovisual training course in Madrid. With a wealth of experience in the realms of art and social movements, he makes the bold decision to venture into uncharted territory and co-directs his inaugural documentary alongside journalist Javier Rada, titled Arrhash. This film, funded entirely by their own resources, delves into the historical memory of his homeland, particularly focusing on the Rif region. It sheds light on the tragic event of the first-ever chemical bombing, perpetrated by Spain against the civilian population of the Rif. The documentary garners three prestigious international accolades and enjoys resounding acclaim within academic and research circles. After spending over a decade in Spain, he makes the decision to go back to Morocco in 2010. In Rabat, he establishes his own production company called Farfira Films. Through this company, he produces numerous institutional films and commercials. Additionally, he creates two short fiction films. In 2015, he helms his second documentary film titled "Rif 58-59: Breaking the Silence," which receives multiple accolades both in Morocco and internationally. Continuing his success, he directs his third documentary film in 2017, titled "The Journey of Khadija," which explores the themes of women, immigration, and identities. This film also garners several prestigious awards.
