Singapennae or Singapenne is an Indian-Tamil-language television series starring Maneesha Mahesh, Amal Jith, Darshak Gowda and directed by Dhanush Krishna. This series premiered on 9 October 2023 Sun TV from Monday to Saturday and It is also available on the digital platform Sun NXT.

Plot

The series depicts the story of Anandhi around a family. Anandi was born into a humble and rustic background troubled by familial and financial concerns, Anandhi takes it upon herself to leave home and fearlessly pursue a better life for her family. Watch her bravely face the odds of life with unwavering spirit.[1]

Production

Development

On July end 2023, Sun TV confirmed that it would distribute new Tamil serial, to be produced by Miracle Media.[2] The series shoot began in August 2023 and the first promo was released on 18 September 2023. The show is directed by Kannana Kanne fame Dhanush Krishna.[3]

Casting

Newcomer actress Maneesha Mahesh was cast as the female lead Anandhi,[4] Amaljith was cast as male lead role, marking his return after Amman. Darshak Gowda plays the second male lead alongside her, marking his return after 'Arunthathi'. Actress Rama play of the role of Pechiyamma,[5] a mother of Anandhi. G. Gnanasambandam was cast as Azhagappan.

In October 2023, VJ Bavithra was cast as Negative role Mithira.[6] In begin November 2023, Rekha Angelina was cast in Pivotal role as Manimegalai.[7]

Release

The first promo was released on 18 September 2023 featuring Maneesha Mahesh and Rama.[8] The second promo was unveiled on 30 September 2023,[9] and The third promo was unveiled on 2 October 2023, featuring protagonist Maneesha Mahesh tell the story and revealing the release date.[10]

The show started airing on Sun TV on 9 October 2023, replacing Vanathai Pola time slot.[11] This series was launched along with Zee Tamil's series Nala Damayanthi and Sandhya Raagam.[12]

Reception

The show got a TVR of 10.28 on launching week on 9 October 2023. On week 41 2023 it became the Top 5 serial of Sun TV.[14]

Trp Ratings

Singapennae became one of the most watched Tamil television program garnering from 2023. In November 2023, the series was the first most watched Tamil-language television series with 11.20 TVR.
