Shejari Shejari (transl. Side by side) is a 1990 Indian Marathi-language drama film directed by Dilip Kolhatkar and produced by Sachin Parekar and Sanjay Parekar under the banner of Amol Production.[2] Story and screenplay is provided by Ashok Patole.[3] The film stars Ashok Saraf, Laxmikant Berde, Nishigandha Wad, Varsha Usgaonkar and Ravi Patwardhan in lead roles.[4][5]
Plot
Preeti (Varsha Usgaonkar) has a feeling that her photographer husband, Rajesh (Laxmikant Berde), might be having an affair with his clients. This suspicion leads to both of them deciding to file for a divorce. Preeti chooses to live separately and moves across from her friend Sushila (Nishigandha Wad) and her husband Keshav's (Ashok Saraf) bungalow.
Interestingly, Preeti comes across a revelation about her grandfather leaving behind a substantial amount of 25 Lakhs for her. However, there's a catch - she can only avail of this inheritance if her married life is going well; otherwise, it would pass on to her cousin brother and his wife.
Things take a twist when Preeti's cousin arrives, and due to some misunderstanding, they mistake Keshav for her husband. Despite this mix-up, they remain suspicious and decide to hire a detective to unravel the truth.
Simultaneously, Keshav's office staff adds another layer of confusion by mistaking Preeti for his wife. They go on to put up hoardings all over the city as part of a promotional campaign, creating a hilarious mix-up.
In the midst of all this, Rajesh enters the scene, eager to mend his broken relationship. He starts living with Sushila, while Preeti resides with Keshav, both pretending to be happily married. The goal is to convince Preeti's cousin about the apparent harmony in her married life so that she can secure the significant wealth left behind by her grandfather. The story unfolds with humor, confusion, and the complexity of relationships..
