Rocco Valdes, better known by his stage name Rocco Did It Again!, is an American record producer, songwriter, music publisher, and music executive from Hialeah, Florida.[1][2]

Beginning his career in 2002, Valdes shares business and creative operations in the music industry. He was appointed A&R for Def Jam Recordings in 2002. In 2005, he discovered and managed American singer T-Pain, and served as executive producer for his studio albums until 2011. He co-founded the record label Chase Records, through which he signed pop singer Austin Mahone in a joint venture with Universal Republic Records and Cash Money Records the following year. In 2018, he became the talent manager for the career of fellow Floridian, rapper 9lokkNine.[3]

In 2019, Valdes renewed focus on record production, garnering credits on singles including "223's" by YNW Melly, "Jump" by DaBaby, "Tick Tock" by Young Thug, "Alone" by Kim Petras and Nicki Minaj, and "Blick Blick" by Coi Leray. In 2021, he produced the single "Best Friend" by Saweetie and Doja Cat, which became a hit on the Billboard Hot 100 and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, peaked on the Rhythmic chart, and was nominated for Best Rap Song at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards. As a staff songwriter for fellow producer Dr. Luke, he's been additionally credited on "All My Life" by Lil Durk, as well as other songs for Latto, Tyga, Saucy Santana, Cordae, and Maejor, among others others.

Life

Rocco was born in Hialeah, Florida, where he attended Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School. After High School, Rocco developed an interest in music and decided to go Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. Initially, Rocco wanted to be a music engineer but decided to he was more intrigued by the business side of music only to find himself back on the technical side of music later in his career.[4][5]

Career

Valdes' music career started in 2002 at record label Def Jam Recordings, where he worked as an assistant at the label for two years. In 2005, Valdes discovered rapper T-Pain and managed his career in a joint venture with RCA Records for 10 years. In 2012, Valdes signed pop singer Austin Mahone to his first recording contract in a joint venture with Universal Republic Records, and later Cash Money Records the following year.[6] In 2018, he became the manager of Orlando, Florida-based rapper 9lokkNine. He produced his song "223's" (featuring YNW Melly), which was released commercially the following year as Melly's single; where it then reached at number 34 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2020, Valdes produced the song "Jump" for DaBaby.[7][8]
