Quinyon Keaaron Mitchell is an American football cornerback for the Toledo Rockets.

Early life and high school

Mitchell grew up in Williston, Florida and attended Williston High School where he lettered in football and basketball. In his high school career, he made 86 tackles, eight interceptions and 19 pass deflections, while also running for 983 yards and 11 touchdowns during his senior season, averaging 9.5 yards per carry.[1] Mitchell was rated a three-star rated recruit and committed to play college football at the University of Toledo for the Toledo Rockets.[2][3]

College career

As a freshman in 2020, Mitchell played in all six games and finished the season with seven tallied tackles and three stops while playing against Bowling Green.[4][5]

In 2021, he started all 13 games at cornerback. He finished the season with 34 total tackles (28 solo and six assisted), two tackles for loss, one sack, eight pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.[6]

In 2022, he started all 14 games and finished the season with 41 total tackles (27 solo and 14 assisted), 3.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions and 25 pass breakups.[7] His 25 pass breakups led the country.[8] He was named a Walter Camp National FBS Player of the Week by 777 Partners.[9] For his performance on the season, Mitchell was named second team All American.[10]

In 2023, he played in and started 12 games and has accumulated 37 total tackles (29 solo and eight assisted), one tackle for loss for one yard, one interception and 17 pass breakups.[11] He was named a semifinalist for the Bednarik Award[12] and was to the 2024 Senior Bowl.[13][14] He is considered a top midwest cornerback prospect for the 2024 NFL draft.[15]
