Dog (domestic dog) |
The Pomchi, also referred to as Chipoms, Pomahuahuas, and Chiranians, is a crossbreed of the Pomeranian and the Chihuahua. The Pomchi is a designer dog and is usually kept as a companion animal.
History
Designer breeders in the United States started breeding the Pomchi in the late 1990's[1] to mix the best attributes of both the Pomeranian and the Chihuahua.[2] Because of their personalities, they remain a popular family and companion dog because of their intelligence, ease of training, and appearance.[3]
Health
The Pomchi suffers from a variety of the same health problems that Pomeranians and Chihuahuas can suffer from, such as, Hypoglycemia, Patellar Luxation, Collapsed Trachea, Legg Calve Perthes, and a variety of dental problems.[4]
