Munia Islam (born September 1989) is a Bangladeshi model, TV presenter and film actress. She is famous for her role in the 2018 film Swapnajaal. She also has worked in multiple Bangla TV dramas.[1] Her notable television works include Bou Boka Dei, Third Generation, Tumi Ashbe Boley, Sutoy Bandha Sukher Paira, Off Screen, Mayar Khela, Ujan Ganger Naiya,[1] Nil Akasher Kalo Rong, and Three Comrade. She was a hostess on two shows on Channel I: Gaan Diye Sokal Shuru and Cinemar Gaan in 2020.
Early and personal life
Islam was born Nazmus Shahadat to Nazrul Islam and Hasina Akter in September 1989 and later assumed her current name.[2] She completed HSC education from Viqarunnisa Noon School and College in 2008.
In late 2020, Islam married Azwad Haider.[3]
Career
Islam started working in the media through photoshoots and TV commercials. Her early commercials were for the BSRM company and the Dabur Network.[4] She also acted in commercials for Bloop Ice on four of their launches. She started individual projects in 2011. In 2012, she started acting in Agnipath, a serial by Nima Rahman, for her first drama role. This role was followed by multiple other television drama appearances. Her role as Julekha in the movie Swapnajaal by Giasuddin Selim[5] marked her cinematic debut.[4] Islam has appeared in several TV shows as an anchor. Her work typically involves live music programs, including Walton Asian music on Asian TV and Gaan die Shuru on Channel I.
