Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon (Dhivehi: މުޚައްމަދު ޣައްސާން މައުމޫން) Born 20 June,1980) is a Maldivian politician and incumbent Minister of Defense of the Maldives. Ghassan has been temporarily handed over the management of the ministry of Agriculture after Agriculture minister Aishath Rameela left for cancer treatment. [1] He is member of Parliament from Guraidhoo constituency.[2] He is serving as Vice president of Progressive Party of Maldives.[3][4]

Ghassan's Life And Family

Ghassan is the son of the former President of the Maldives Maumoon Abdul Gayoom And Former First lady Nasreena Ibrahim. Ghassan's Father was The longest served president ever recorded in the Maldives. Ghassan is the youngest child of president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom. Ghassan was born on 20 June 1980, As the Son of the president.Nasreena Ibrahim (Ghassan's mother) was the only First Lady of the Maldives To give Birth to a child When She was the First lady. Ghassan and his family was living on Theemuge (the president's palace).After November 3rd Attack they changed to Muliaage and after they renovated Theemuge they again changed to Theemuge.As planned on the Day of November 3 It was planned to Attack Maldives after president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom Leave to a other country so they could have removed maumoon from the president.but luckily maumoon planned not to go (without knowing they were going to Attack). Otherwise Ghassan and his mother lost their lives.As of that day Every child of Maumoon Abdul Gayoom And Nasreena Ibrahim Other than Ghassan was away from their parents to study.So maumoon and Ghassan, Nasreena was living on Theemuge. Ghassan is the current minister of defense Maldives.
