Mill MILK Co. Limited is a Hong Kong video production company that creates feature stories, occupation experiments, atypical exploration, local travel, international travel, talk shows, and food content. It was registered on the YouTube on 7 June 2021. Two years after Mill MILK was established, the YouTube channel had received 709k subscribers and over 220 million views with 734 videos. Mill MILK was founded by Peter Mak and Mill MILK's YouTube channel belongs to CCT Fortis Holdings Limited.
History
Apple Daily was Hong Kong's largest pro-democracy tabloid newspaper. It closed due to the "sustained pressure from the authorities in Hong Kong".[1] After its closure in June 2021, some of its staff decided to group up and launch the YouTube channel Mill MILK on the 9 July 2021. Its debut video was published on the 13 October 2021 regarding the expectations of their channels and Hong Kong's future.[2] Since the channel's establishment, they have accumulated 712k subscribers,[3] a tally of 219 million views, and their most trending video received more than 4.1 million views.[4]
Development
In December 2022, Mill MILK was Hong Kong's second most active channels on YouTube.[5] They broadened their scale of video production and concepts, offering at least ten types of series covering various topics,[6] while offering internship opportunities for those who are interested and pursue the same goal with the channel, allowing youngsters in Hong Kong to be able to try and learn without fear and judgment.[7]
In 2022, the video "#MM|80後情侶居大澳偏僻村莊 低收入低消費生活日花$30 自己劈木、起屋、划船過海 冇冷氣電視冬天燒柴取暖 熱愛海洋招街坊3日2夜划獨木舟環大嶼山一周|#700萬種生活 #4K" (Translated as: "Couples from the 80s lived in Tai O have a minimalistic life, spending only 30 dollars a day while chopping trees, building houses, and sailing across waters by themselves") was named as the most popular YouTube video of 2022 in Hong Kong.[8]
Members
- Chucky Chan Ching-Nga 陳靜雅 is the content manager of Mill MILK. After receiving her associate degree in Applied Chinese Studies from Community College of City University, she started her career as a content creator in various companies including STAKK Factory Limited and Apple Daily Limited.[9]
- Phoebe Wong Chow-Ting 王秋婷 is the content creator of Mill MILK. She was the Deputy Interview Director of Apple Daily's supplement.[10]
- Karen Cheng-Yu Kiu 鄭汝翹 is a content creator of the channel. Graduated from the Department of Marketing at City University of Hong Kong. She has won awards such as the 10th Basic Law Multi-Dimensional Inter-University Debate Competition in 2008, and the Best Debater in the semi-finals of the Competition.[11]
- Phaedrus Lam-King Yin 林京賢 is a content creator of the Channel. He reported news when he was working at Apple Daily.[12]
- Sam Leung-Chong Shing 梁中勝, graduated from Hong Kong Shue Yan University with a bachelor's degree in mass communications and media studies, has worked as a reporter in Initium Media Technology Ltd and Apple Daily Limited.[13]
- Apple Wong-Hiu Fung 黃曉楓, is a content creator of the Channel. As a visual arts graduate in the Hong Kong Baptist University, she is also a local painter who won The Derwent Art Prize 2016 and Hong Kong Cliftons Art Prize 2011.[14]

Incidents
Mill MILK released a video on 2 November 2023 about a two-day homestay experience in Osaka, Japan. There a miscommunication in booking their stay with the owner, but they also did not arrange a Japanese translator on the trip and used Google Translate to communicate with their interviewees, the owner, and his wife. The owner of the homestay also posted a blog after Mill Milk's visit, outlining the behaviours of the creators during their stay.[15]
