The Minor Elite Hockey League (MEHL) is a virtual, simulated ice hockey league based in North America. It is currently in its 8th season of operation as of August 2023.[1] It is believed to be the oldest such league on the internet, having lasted for 8+ years.
The teams play a 16-game regular season, starting in mid-August and ending in early May with a playoff phase. The top teams of the MEHL Scott Cup Playoffs meet in a predetermined location to play in the Scott Cup Championship.
Gameplay
Similar to how sports are covered on the radio, the MEHL hosts streams that mostly contain a still image promoting said stream. Besides this, the streams include countdown timers before games and between periods, as well as goal animations. When the home team (shown on the left, similar to UK hockey) scores a goal, the goal horn and song is broadcast over the stream.
Streams take place on Easton's channel[2], while they are usually announced the morning of in the Discord.
