The Lawrence D. Eicher Award is granted to ISO technical committees (TC) and subcommittees (SC) that have demonstrated contributions to the development of international standards. The award further aims to encourage the participation of developing countries in the standardization processes.
Overview
The award is named after ISO’s former Secretary-General, Lawrence D. Eicher. Established in 2003, it commemorates Eicher's contributions during his time at ISO from 1986 to 2002. During his tenure, ISO shifted its focus from primarily technological aspects to include market-oriented considerations. Standards from this period reflect this broader perspective.[1]
