On the west side of the lake rise Kummunmäki and Nikainmäki, which rises more than 70 meters above the lake's water level. It has been calculated that there are 13 islands in the lake. Their total area is 5 hectares, which is about 2% of the total area of the lake. The largest island is Konevets, which is more than three hectares in size, nine islands are larger than Ari and the remaining three are smaller than Ari. Other islands are Palosaari, Kärkisaari, Yksipetäinen, Kakspetäinen, Kanisaari, Lapinsaari and Limppusaari.[2]

The lake has been created and the depth maps have been published. Its volume is 11 million cubic meters, or 0.011 cubic kilometers. The average depth of the lake is 4.3 meters and the maximum depth is 14.8 meters. The deepest point is located halfway between Kolonsaari and Limppusaari. There is a hole over 11 meters deep in the middle of the lake and in front of Kolosaari on its northeast side, and a hole over 13 meters deep on the northwest side of Palosaari. Alongside the Lapinlahti ridge at the bottom of the lake to its northwest runs a ridge more than 600 meters long. The length of the Coast of the lake is 12 kilometers, of which the total length of the Coast of the islands is 3 kilometers. Its shores are Forest cover and the population is scattered. The only corner municipality is Asunta, which stretches across the isthmus between the lakes to Asunnanjärvi. More than 20 leisure apartments have been built on the beaches. Highway 23 and the Haapamäki–Jyväskylä line pass through the isthmus.[3]
