This work is expressed through documentaries ("I will be their mouth", about the life and work of Gideon Hausner).[6]
The Devil's Confession – Eichmann's Lost Tapes
In 1957, an interview with Adolf Eichmann was conducted in Buenos Aires, by the Nazi journalist, of Dutch origin, Willem Sassen, which was recorded on tape. During the interview, Eichmann is heard, among other things, describing the war crimes he committed during World War II.[7][1][8]
The story of the tapes and its content, which contradicts Eichmann's version at the trial held in 1961, was discovered by Kobi Sitt during his work on the documentary film "I will be their mouth" about the life and work of Gideon Hausner, the Attorney General of Israel in the historical trial.[7]
Following this, Sitt continued an in-depth investigation on the subject, initiated the production of a documentary series about the lost recordings and recruited the director Yariv Mozer for this purpose. The locating of the recordings in the National Archives in Koblenz, Germany by the researcher of the series, Lucas Weinbeer, led to the discovery of 67 reels and the approval of their use for the production of the documentary series "The Devil’s Confession – Eichmann’s Lost Tapes".[7]
While listening to the found tapes, a surprising confession of Eichmann's involvement in extermination was discovered. The Israel Broadcasting Corporation, KAN, Tadmor Entertainment and MGM teamed up for a production that lasted for about two years during the COVID-19 pandemic period, in Israel, the United States, Argentina, Germany, Austria, Hungary and France.[9] As part of the production, all the archival materials in the series were colored and the transcripts of the reels were translated.[7]
The film version opened the Docaviv Festival 2022,[10][11]. Also screened at the UK Jewish Film Festival 2023.[12]
On January 31, 2023, Amazon Prime Video, announced that it would purchase the broadcasting rights The exclusivity of the series and thus "The Devil’s Confession – Eichmann’s Lost Tapes" was the first Israeli television series acquired by it.[13]
