Nnamani Chimaobi John (born April 11, 2006), professionally known by his stage name Johnel also called Johnel NG, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer known for his blends with trap, hip hop, afrobeat and R&B music.[4][5][6][7][8]
Early life
Johnel is from Enugu State. He started music at the age of 13, then he went after the stage name 'Johnel'. His passion for music drove him to form a rap trio called Triggerz, but they separated in less than a year of their collaboration.[5][6]
Career
In 2022, his afrobeat single Kolo charted top 5 on Anghami and was released under ONErpm label.[9][10][11] He recorded Dance and Champagne[4] following a hip hop collaboration Run It, featuring Gusty Guy.[12] In 2023, he released his debut trap and R&B extended play Conversations with Myself[13] following a soulful R&B single Another Love Song.[14][15][16]
In August 2023, Johnel NG released an extended play consisting of five tracks titled 'Painting Pictures'.[17][18]
On October 2023, Johnel released a single titled Outcast following the release of his solo extended play Happy Story, Sad reality which appeared in the Rapzilla top 5 tracklist.[19][20][21][22]
Critical reception
In 2023, City People Magazine described Conversations with Myself as a "No disappoint" extended play.[15]
