Jeanne Montbaston (fl. 1353) was a French illustrator.

She was married to the book printer Richard Montbaston. She and her husband managed a book print shop in Paris in c. 1325–1353. Her husband published books, while she illustrated them. Their business was famous, and among their most famous works was the Roman de la Rose, which was published by Richard Montbaston and illuminated by Jeanne Montbaston.[1] She was registered as a professional artisan and gave her oath to the Paris guild in 1353.[2]

While it was in fact not uncommon for the wives and daughters of book printers to work in the family workshop with illuminations, bookbinding and illustrations, they normally worked purely informally and did not give a personal guild oath such as Jeanne Montbaston, and their names normally remain unknown.[3]
