Idhayam is an Indian-Tamil language television series starring Janani Ashok Kumar and Richard Jose, Directed by S.N.Rajkumar.[1] The series revolves around a famous businessman named Adhi who falls in love with a small-town widow, Bharathi. It started airing on Zee Tamil from 28 August 2023 on Monday to Saturday at 13:30.[2]

Synopsis

Aadhi is the sole heir of the Saradha Group of Companies. He has been suffering from a heart ailment since small and requires a heart transplantation surgery to live. On his wedding day, he suffers a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital.[3] He miraculously survives after undergoing a heart transplantation surgery in which he received the heart from Vasu, a young man from a middle class family and Bharathi's husband, who suffered a brain death due to a bike accident. After receiving a new life thanks to the new heart, he has been and undergoes a profound change to his personality. His heart becomes tender and his eyes swell with tears when he sees Bharathi and her daughter Tamizh.[4] He falls in love with her without realizing it. The story is about what happens next in their lives. [5]

Production

Development

On April end 2023, Zee Tamil confirmed through a press release that it would distribute new Tamil serial, to be produced by Rajammal creations.[7] The series shoot began in June 2023 and the first promo was released on 6 August 2023. The show is directed by Thirumathi Hitler fame Rajkumar.

Casting

Malayalam actor Richard Jose was cast as the male lead Adhi, who is a businessman. Janani Ashok Kumar[8] was cast as the female lead, who is a single widow mother.[9] Janani Ashok marking her return after Naam Iruvar Namakku Iruvar 2. Sujatha Panju was roped to play as Adhi's mother. Puvi was cast to role as Vasu in a cameo role.

Release

The first promo was released on 6 August 2023 featuring Janani Ashok Kumar, Richard Jose and Puvi depicts the story with song and revealing of the leads.[10] The second promo was unveiled on 17 August 2023, featuring protagonist Richard Jose and Janani Ashok Kumar revealing the release date.[11]

It began airing on Zee Tamil starting 28 August 2023,[12][13] replacing 'Kanaa' Time Slot.
