Guruji Oru Vakku (transl.Guruji, a word) is a 1985 Indian Malayalam-language film directed by Rajan Sankaradi and written by Venu Nagavally. The film stars Mohanlal, Madhu, Nedumudi Venu and Ratheesh. The film has songs composed by Jerry Amaldev and background score by Johnson.[1][2][3]

Plot

2 friends,Charli and Gopakumar job less,do petty thefts from parked vehicles and sell those for small amounts to a second hand parts dealer and try to survive.Gopu is a play boy,try to woo wealthy girls Charli is good at heart,living in memories of a lost love. They meet Unni,who was cheated by an employment racket and be a part of the group.On an attempt to steal a car stereo, they are caught by Guruji and taken to his estate.10000 rupees were given to three of them on condition that they should report what they achieved exactly after 1 year and the person who achieve best would be gifted with Gurukripa Estate owned by Guruji.The trio leaves happily and Gopu losses his money in a gambling cheat.Gopu marries a wealthy girl Meera,who was introduced earlier in the movie and her aunt gifts a hotel (sea land) to her as a gift and leaves permanently to Australia.Gopu becomes the manager of that hotel.Then he keep distance with Charli and Unni, but later they are employed in that hotel on Meera's request. Swami,the fraudulent manager of hotel become in loggerheads with them,Unni leaved first,and Charli later from job.The hotel is closed due to staff strike,Gopu begins drinking,and has no plans to settle the strike.And the day of reporting to Guruji arrives, Gopu meet Guruji in a drunken state and create trouble. Unni arrives with his mute brother and states all the money was spent on his father's treatment and father is no more now,and pleads to grant him one year more to settle the word.Charli do not arrive,but Betty,a girl arrives with a letter and that letter narrates what happened to him after parting with Gopu.Charli happens to meet Betty and her mother in a hospital for blood donation (AB+) for mother's surgery and live with them as,mother sees her lost son of the same name.A marriage proposal is arrived for Betty,and the boy happens to be son of the parts dealer to whom charli used to sell the theft goods,and the groom's party withdraw from the proposal stating, not interested as Charli has a shady past.Later Charli get a serious illness and dies.On death bed,he hand over the letter to Betty and ask her to meet Guruji on the set date.In the letter Charli is very anxious about Betty and Mother and request Unni to marry her and be the light of that house.Movie ends in a candle lit cemetery, where Guruji,Gopu,Unni and Betty are paying their prayers on the grave of Charli, and Guruji unites Unni and Betty.Gopu kneels over Charli's grave and breaks into tears.
