Gerardo Werthein (born 3 December 1955) is an Argentine businessman. He was the President of the Argentine Olympic Committee between 2009-2021. In 2011 he was elected to become a member of the International Olympic Committee.[1]
He was born in Buenos Aires into a wealthy family of Jewish origins from Russia. Werthein got his start in business with an advantage, inheriting a multi-million dollar business.[2] During his ternure as President of the Argentine Olympic Committee, Argentina organize the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics.[1]
In November 2023, President-elect Javier Milei announce the nomination of Werthein as Argentine Ambassador to United States.[3]
