From Here (2020) is a documentary film about immigration and anti-racism by American director/producer Christina Antonakos-Wallace. Set in Berlin and New York City, the film is a hopeful story of four young artists and activists from immigrant families redefining belonging in an era of rising nationalism globally.

The film has been featured at international conferences, won several film festival awards, and screened at the European Parliament and the International Office for Migration.[1][2]

Release

The film's world premiere took place in 2020 at the Human Rights Watch Film Festival in London.[3]

In 2022, the International Office for Migration in The Netherlands hosted a screening of From Here in The Hague and one in Rotterdam with director/producer Christina Antonakos-Wallace and protagonist Tania Mattos in attendance.[2]

In April 2022, the film was featured at the 12th Annual Conference on Political Economy[4] at the International Initiative to Promote Political Economy (IIPPE) in Bologna, Italy.

In June 2022, the film screened at the European Parliament in an event organized by German MEP Romeo Franz. Director/producer Christina Antonakos-Wallace and protagonist Miman Jasarovski were in attendance.[1]

In September 2022, the film was featured at the X Migration Congress in Madrid, Spain.[5]

In January 2023, the film screened at Queens Museum, NY on an event co-hosted by New York City Commission on Human Rights with protagonists Tania Mattos and Sonny Singh in attendance.[6]
