Charlotte Plank is an English musician. She released three solo singles and then sang lead vocals on "Dancing Is Healing" by Rudimental and Vibe Chemistry, which charted at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart. She is a member of Loud LDN.

Life and career

Early life

Plank attended Notting Hill Academy of Music.[1] Her parents met in Australia in the early 1990s rave scene; her uncle was a DJ. She first started recording during lockdown;[2] her first works were lo-fi demos.[3] She previously worked at Marks and Spencer.[3]

Early works

On 14 February 2021, she released "Dont U Know", with Frankie Allan and Strictly Banks,[4] and on 13 August 2021, she featured on Reflecting, from Chowerman's EP ANTITHESIS, which also featured Luciferian and Kami-O.[5] On 20 May 2022, Plank self-released "Hate Me".[6] The song detailed Plank's attempts at putting off a potential love interest, due to her own self-hatred.[7] The song brought Plank to the attention of Black Butter Records, who signed her,[8] and rereleased the song on 19 August 2022,[9] the same day as its camcorder-style music video, which was shot with Sexy Lady Massive, a women-only rave in London.[10] On 9 November 2022, she released "Lost Boys",[9] which discusses men's mental health.[3] On 19 January 2023, she released "L.S.D. (Love So Damaged)",[9] which discusses the struggles of a toxic relationship.[3]

Chart success

On 21 April 2023, Plank, Rudimental and Vibe Chemistry, released "Dancing Is Healing",[11] a song about the healing properties of dancing,[12] which charted at No. 5 on the UK Singles Chart,[13] and was certified Silver by the British Phonographic Industry (BPI).[14] On 25 April 2023, she released "White Noise",[9] which she had previously performed live.[15] On 18 May 2023,[16] she, Turno, and Skepsis released "Rave Out"; the track was recorded as the first of 22 tracks to come out of a January 2023 writing camp, and discusses men's mental health,[17] and charted at No. 37 on the UK Singles Chart.[13]

Artistry

Plank's inspirations include Fleetwood Mac, Sam Fender, Keith Flint, Orbital, and Bicep.[3] She, Piri, Venbee, Issey Cross, and Willow Kayne are members of Loud LDN, a collective of female and non-binary musicians based in London and its suburbs.[18]
