Black Socialists in America[lower-alpha 1] (BSA) is an American socialist political group that organizes predominantly among black working-class people and whose stated goal is to create a national platform and network for those who identify as Black American socialists.[4]
Since its foundation, the group has worked on grassroots initiatives with organizations across the country,[5][6] received national media coverage[7] and an endorsement from Noam Chomsky.[8]
The group has also hosted a number of public panels and discussions featuring both civil rights era and radical black leaders such as Jamal Joseph.[9] Members of the group acting on behalf of the organization have also been represented in a number of other lectures or interviews done by figures such as economist Richard D. Wolff,[10] and television networks like Free Speech TV.[11]
Controversy
Black Socialists in America has fundraised $25,616.18 for developing a "Dual Power App", $1,738.43 for developing a "Stack App," and $10,798.40 for developing a "BSA App."[12]
As of November 2023, the only published work on any of these projects is a "initial UI/UX design process for the Dual Power App" in 2021.[12] Although earlier in the fundraising process there was a Dual Power App and Stack App website, both are offline, as of November 2023.[13][14] The Official Dual Power App X page hasn't tweeted or provided any updates since August 2022.[15]
