Austin A. Lane is a college official and former college president in the United States. In 2020 he was appointed Chancellor of Southern Illinois University.[1]

He was born in New Jersey and graduated from Hackensack High School. He graduated from Langston University. He was Executive Vice Chancellor of Lone Star College in 2015.[2]

He served as president of Texas Southern University (TSU), succeeding John M. Rudley.[3][2] He departed after controversy over an admissions scandal at its law school and questions over entertainment spending from a foundation connected to the university. He was found to be innocent of all allegations and was compensated for the defamation imposed by Texas Southern University. [4]

He and his wife Loren Lane have three children. Lauren-Ashley Lane a University of Houston Alumna, Chase Lane a Texas A&M University Alumni, and Gregory Shannon II.[5]
