Athlone Park is a small coastal suburb located between Durban and Amanzimtoti in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa and forms part the eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality as a Southern Suburb.

Geography

Athlone Park lies on the mouth of the uMbokodweni River, approximately 19 kilometres (12 miles) south of Durban and 7 kilometres (4 miles) north of the Amanzimtoti CBD ^[3][4] and sits between the Indian Ocean to the east, Prospecton to the north, Lotus Park to the north-west, Umbogintwini to the west and Amanzimtoti to the south.^[5]

Transport

The N2 freeway runs past Athlone Park, bordering it to the west and separating it from the suburb of Umbogintwini. The N2 runs north towards Durban and south towards Amanzimtoti and Port Shepstone. Dickens Road, a local road provides direct access to the N2 and connects Athlone Park to Umbogintwini. The R102 route named Kingsway (officially renamed to Andrew Zondo Road) runs between the suburb and the coastline and runs north towards Prospecton and south towards Amanzimtoti.
