Alberte Tennøe Bekkhus (born 19 September 1999) is a Norwegian youth politician who was elected leader of Red Youth in 2020 .[1] She did not seek re-election to the leadership in 2023.
Politics
In 2016, Bekkhus, together with other activists participated in civil disobedience in Førdefjorden, where the aim was to prevent the industrial company Nordic Mining from test drilling for rutile and dumping mine sludge in a marine landfill.[2] After this she was sentenced to pay a fine of 10,000 NOK, plus 1,000 more in court costs.[3] In an interview with Jacobin, she said that Norway should no longer be a safe harbour for oligarchic wealth. In the same interview she stated that Norway should be a safe haven for Russian deserters from the Russian invasion of Ukraine.[4]
