History

On January 24, 2019, AdventHealth announced that it was constructing a new $150 million 193,000-square-foot hospital in Overland Park, Kansas with 85 beds.[2][3] It expected that the new hospital would create 200 full-time jobs.[2][3] On October 11, 2019, AdventHealth broke ground on its new hospital in Overland Park.[4]

On September 30, 2021, AdventHealth Overland Park opened with 38 beds, and there is enough land for the hospital to expand to 150 beds in the future.[5] AdventHealth South Overland Park was constructed next to AdventHealth South Overland Park ER and a medical office building which were constructed in 2017.[5] Laura Kelly was at the grand opening of the new hospital.[5][6] On October 7, 2021, AdventHealth South Overland Park began admitting patients.[7][8] It became the first new hospital to open in the Kansas City metropolitan area in 15 years.[9]
