    Etymology
    
pr (“house”) + ḫnr (“harem”) in a direct genitive construction, thus ‘house of the harem’. Since the 19th Dynasty the second element is sometimes written and reanalyzed as ḫntj (“foremost”), thus ‘foremost house’.
