     As a form of avoidance, the tiger is called ông ba mươi, the snake is called ông lốt, the elephant is called ông vâm.

     Theo các thầy thuốc, lá và thân cây lốt chứa các chất ancaloit, flavonoid và tinh dầu, với thành phần chủ yếu là beta-caryophylen; rễ cũng có chứa tinh dầu nhưng thành phần chính là benzylaxetat.

     According to physicians, the piper lolot plant's leaves and stem contain alkaloids, flavonoids, and an essential oil whose main component is β-caryophyllene; its roots also contain an essential oil whose main component is benzyl acetate.

It is rarely used alone after classifer cây and is mostly attested in the compound lá lốt (“literally, “piper lolot leaf/leaves””).
