kakskiv
Norwegian Nynorsk

    Alternative forms

- kakskive, kakeskive (usually a not-phonetic spelling because of apocope removal)
- kakskjiv, kaksjiv (can be considered as a misspelling)
Etymology

From kake (“cake”) + skive (“slice”). Probably a result of semantic drift cake > bread. Anyway, the word kake itself has no meaning as bread in Trøndersk dialect (at least today).
Pronunciation

- IPA(key): /kaːk.ʃiːv/
Noun

kakskiv f (definite singular kakskiva, definite singular dative kakskiven, indefinite plural kakskivo, definite plural kakskivonn, definite plural dative kakskivom)
- (dialectal, Trøndelag) a slice of bread
- (dialectal, Trøndelag) an open sandwich
