- gesunfader
Etymology

From gi- + sunu + fadar. The word is an archaism: in early Germanic literature, only three other similar dvandva compounds are attested, inheritances from older language stages in which this method of compounding was still productive. They are Old English suhtergefæderan and suhtorfædran (Beowulf and Widsith, respectively), aþumsweoran (Beowulf), and Old High German sunufatarungo (Hildebrandslied).
