entbieren
Luxembourgish
Etymology
From Middle High German enbern, from Old High German inberan. Equivalent to ent- + obsolete *bieren, an obsolete verb ultimately from the root of gebären (“to give birth”).
Historically either derived with this prefix or rather from a reinterpretation of Old High German ni beran (“not to carry”). Cognate with German entbehren, Dutch ontberen.
