Proto-Finnic
Etymology
From Proto-Finno-Permic [Term?], borrowed from Proto-Iranian *wacáh (“yearling calf”), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *wet- (“year”). Other Uralic words from the same source include Proto-Samic *vuosē, Erzya ваз (vaz, “calf”), Moksha ваз (vaz, “calf”).[1] The Iranian word was also separately borrowed into Mansi (e.g. Northern Mansi [script needed] (wāsiɣ, “moose calf”)).
