Etymology
From Proto-Finno-Permic *utare (whence also Erzya одар (odar), Moksha одар (odar)), probably borrowed from Proto-Indo-Iranian *HúHdʰr̥ (whence Sanskrit ऊधर् (ūdhar) ), ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₁ówHdʰr̥.
