Compare Old Irish clé (“left”) and Latin clīvius (“inauspicious”) from the same root. The origin of the 𐌳 (d) is unclear, but Lehmann (1986) suggests derivation from a formation similar to Proto-Germanic *hlīdō (“slope”).
