Etymology
    
From Old Japanese.[1][2] Derived from へだつ (hedatsu),[2] a compound of 部 (he, “separate”) + 立つ (tatsu, “to set up”), where the tatsu changes to datsu as an instance of rendaku (連濁). (Can this(+) etymology be sourced?)
