Original Literary Chinese text:

青，取之於藍，而青於藍。 (Xunzi, c. 3^rd century BCE)

The color blue, obtained from the indigo plant, is nevertheless bluer than the plant itself.

Kanbun annotation:

青，取_二之於_レ藍_一，而青_二於藍_一。

Kanbun kundoku:

青(あを)は、之(これ)を藍(あゐ)より取(と)りて、而(しか)も藍(あゐ)より青(あを)し。

Ao wa, kore o ai yori torite, shikamo ai yori aoshi.
