மிளகாய்
Tamil

    Etymology

Inherited from Proto-Dravidian *miḷVku. From மிள- (miḷa-, “pepper”) + காய் (kāy, “unripe fruit”). Cognate with Telugu మిరపకాయ (mirapakāya). மிள- (miḷa-) is not used by itself; rather, it is found as part of some nouns meaning "pepper".
