ܨܵܠܹܐ • (ṣālē) (present participle ܨܠܵܝܵܐ (ṣlāyā), past participle ܨܸܠܝܵܐ (ṣilyā))

1. to descend, go down

   ܠܵܐ ܟܹܐ ܡܵܨܹܝܬ ܨܵܠܹܝܬ ܬܲܡܵܐ ܗܵܫܵܐ ܡ̣ܢ ܥܸܠܲܬ݂ ܒܢܵܝܬܵܐ.

   lā kē māṣēt ṣālēt tammā hāšā min ˁillaṯ bnāytā.

   You can’t go down there currently because of the construction.

   ܨܠܹܐ ܠܲܢ ܒܸܛܪܵܝܵܐ ܠܐܘܿܪܡܝܼܵܐ ܩܵܐ ܫܘܼܠܵܡ ܫܵܒ݂ܘܿܥܵܐ.

   ṣlē lan biṭrāyā l-ōrmīyā qā šūlām šāḇōˁā.

   We drove down to Urmia for the weekend.

   ܙܘܼܒܵܢܹ̈ܐ ܨܸܠܝܹ̈ܐ ܝܢܵܐ ܒܫܵܒ݂ܘܿܥܵܐ. ― zūbānē ṣilyē ìnā b-šāḇōˁā. ― Sales have gone down during the week.

3. to come down, drop, precipitate as rain, snow etc.

   ܡܸܛܪܵܐ ܒܸܨܠܵܝܵܐ ܝܠܵܗ̇ ― miṭrā biṣlāyā ìlāh ― It is raining (literally, “Rain is descending”)

   ܬܲܠܓܵܐ ܒܸܨܠܵܝܵܐ ܝܠܹܗ ― talgā biṣlāyā ìlēh ― It is snowing (literally, “Snow is descending”)

4. to get out, get off, alight, disembark of a vehicle

   ܨܠܹܐ ܠܲܢ ܡ̣ܢ ܛܲܝܵܣܬܵܐ. ― ṣlē lan min ṭayyāstā. ― We disembarked the plane.

   ܨܠܝܼ ܡ̣ܢ ܩܛܵܪܵܐ ܥܲܠ ܪܨܝܼܦܵܐ. ― ṣlī min qṭārā ˁal rṣīpā. ― Get off the train onto the platform.
