Mediopassive of ⁧מָנַע⁩ (maná, “to prevent”), from the root ⁧מ־נ־ע⁩ (m-n-').

1. To refrain, avoid, abstain (from an action).

     ⁧כֹּה אָמַר בָּלָק בֶּן־צִפּוֹר, אַל־נָא תִמָּנַע מֵהֲלֹךְ אֵלָי.⁩

     ko amár baláq ben-tzippór, al-na timmanáʿ mehalóch eláy.

     Thus said Balak son of Zippor, Be not, I pray thee, withheld from coming unto me.

     ⁧וְיִמָּנַע מֵרְשָׁעִים אוֹרָם; וּזְרוֹעַ רָמָה תִּשָּׁבֵר.⁩
