El Hatillo

second-level administrative division in the Miranda State, Venezuela

El Hatillo is a beautiful pueblo on the outskirts on Caracas. It is known for its colorful houses and good restaurants. There is a small park, where many events take place, as well as very interesting shops and places to eat surrounding the park. There is a small mall with several shops, supermarket, and movie theater, as well as a food court. It is a town rich in history. The people are also very friendly.

Plaza Bolívar
  • Plaza Bolívar. Home of the Santa Rosalía church, the Hatillo Town Hall, and several bars, restaurants and cafes. In the middle of the square, there is a statue of Simón Bolívar. 
  • 🌍 Cerro El Volcán. Also known as "El Picacho de El Volcán" or "Cerro de las antenas"), it is the highest peak of the Municipality of El Hatillo, one of which makes up the metropolitan area of ​​the city of Caracas. It reaches an elevation of 1,490 meters above sea level. Telecommunications, radio and television antennas have been installed in this space to provide service to the city of Caracas. El Picacho de El Volcán also served as a point of reference to set the limits of the municipality. 
  • The Enchanted Station (Estación El Encantado) (east of El Hatillo, at the foot of the Peñón de las Guacas in the area known as the Guaire River Canyon). It was the first hydroelectric plant that supplied electricity to the city of Caracas, being also the first in Latin America and the second in the continent, its activities began on August 8, 1897. 
  • Grotto or monument to Pope Saint John Paul II — in the intercommunal La Trinidad - El Hatillo, between the entrance of avenue 2 of the La Boyera urbanization and the first entrance to the Los Pinos urbanization. The Saint John Paul II bust was made by the artist Jorge González and dated 2007.
Church of San Constantino and Santa Elena
  • 🌍 Church of San Constantino and Santa Elena (on the south avenue of the La Lagunita urbanization). It was built by craftsmen from the Maramureş district in Transylvania. It was assembled without nails or metal objects in its structure and is adorned with neo-Byzantine religious paintings. This is one of two such temples outside of Romania. 
  • Cuevas del Indio Park — in the northern sector of the municipality on the Peñón de los Naranjos, near the East Cemetery, it is a mountain formed of limestone rocks covered by abundant vegetation, it is administered by the National Institute of Parks (INPARQUES). You can also visit the Cueva del Pio and the lime kiln that is 1 km from the base of the park.
  • Rock of the Guacas or Rock of Los Carraos (El Peñón de Las Guacas or Peñón Los Carraos) (in the Los Naranjos sector to the east of the La Lagunita Urbanization). It is a rocky outcrop that is part of the Zenda phase of the Las Brisas Formation of the late Jurassic, on the eastern slope of the rock is the Guaire River canyon. The Los Carraos cave and the Zuloaga cave are also found in this rock, this being the largest cavity or cavern in the capital region with a length close to 500 meters.
